Abstract	"The authors of this book move beyond transactional change in education to deep-rooted transformational changes that close opportunity gaps for Black and Brown students and families. They believe that transactional responses to racism reify white supremacist narratives, policies, and practices. At the core of the book is an original conceptual framework (The Conscious Anti-Racist Engendering, or CARE, Framework) that places a concerted focus on community building through the use of adult learning theories. Decolonizing education means rebuilding a school system that supports all students, staff, and teachers; a system that puts forth the needs of all students and is responsive to the particular needs of each and every child. Embracing the discomfort that comes with openly acknowledging privilege and inequity means stepping into a zone of productive struggle and permitting ourselves to be vulnerable.
