Abstract | The refusal by a group of parents in Olds, Alberta, in 2003 to accept a provincial grant to renovate their high school set in motion a remarkable collaboration that spawned an innovative learning campus for an entire community and beyond. The new Olds High School, which opened in 2010, is part of a new Community Learning Campus (CLC), a joint venture formed between the Chinook's Edge School Division and Olds College. Situated on the college campus, the CLC sprang from the conviction of the leaders of the institutions that they could accomplish a great deal more by joining forces than by living in largely separate silos.
