Abstract | The findings of this study expand current knowledge regarding principals' perceptions of school counselors. School principals play a key role in school counselors hiring or dismissal, and their perceptions of school counselors' roles and functions may influence their decisions. Reflecting on their views may also assist school principals in advancing their collaboration with school counselors. This study analyzed archived data regarding middle school principals' perceptions of school counselors' roles and function. The analysis revealed that middle school principals believed middle school counselors positively affect the academic, social, and personal development of their students. In addition, most principals reported they would recommend school counseling as a career choice to others. These results are similar to previous research on elementary school principals' perceptions of counselors. (Contains 1 table.) (As Provided). |
