Abstract	People are confronting the most pressing challenge facing every family, school, and community--raising respectful children in a toxic world. In simpler societies, raising children was a shared task of the whole community, as adults and youth worked in harmony and mutual respect. Today, humans are the only species in creation living out of balance. Unfortunately, many who have privileges become self-indulgent and ignore those who are in need. When Muhammad Ali was a young man, the motto "I am the greatest" brought publicity to him and inspired young people who saw him as their hero. His boxing was just the beginning of his life. In his current career, he is trying to help all young persons find their own greatness. He contends that very often great and beautiful things are difficult to discover. Gold is buried under layers of rock. Pearls are hidden in shells lying in the debris at the bottom of the ocean. People have to work to find them. Their challenge is to search for greatness in the most unlikely places, even in youth who frustrate or frighten adults. In every school and neighborhood, there are children without hope, but no child is hopeless. Each has a purpose. These are just children who have not yet discovered their purpose. (Contains 1 photo.)
