Abstract | A content analysis of multicultural counseling syllabi from the Council on Rehabilitation Education (CORE) accredited programs was conducted. Using CORE accreditation standards that apply to Social and Cultural Diversity knowledge and outcome areas (Section C.2) and Middleton et al. (2000) proposed multicultural competencies and standards for rehabilitation counselors, course syllabi objectives, assignments, and activities were examined. Results suggested that syllabi content included multicultural knowledge and awareness, but little attention was given to generalizing this information into culturally relevant counseling skills and strategies. Limitations of this study and implications for future research are described. (Contains 2 tables.) (As Provided). |
