Abstract | All undergraduate students are required by state law to take six credited hours in political science. This study will help us identify if differences exist in self-determination among students enrolled in American Public Policy and American Government at a large, Southwestern public university. Because some types of motivation are associated with more positive educational outcomes than others, the results of this study may help us understand why some students excel when others struggle and make modifications to existing course structure to facilitate positive motivational outcomes. The study will use standard survey questionnaires developed by scholars in the area of self-determination theory (SDT). (Contains 2 tables.) (As Provided). |
