Abstract | The Colleges of Worcester Consortium has created a broad array of statewide, higher education access services over several decades by leveraging federal, state, local, and foundation resources. The consortium comprises thirteen diverse colleges and universities in central Massachusetts and is a nonprofit regional association of these institutions: two-year, four-year, and professional institutions, public and private, urban and rural. It works cooperatively to further the missions of the individual member institutions and advance higher education in the region. Resource and information sharing, staff and administration professional development services, cross-campus and community-oriented student services, academic cooperation, community and government relations, and higher education access services are the priorities for this community-based organization. By its very nature, the consortium is a prime example of a partnership model that has proven successful for over thirty-five years. (ERIC). |
