Abstract | Problem-solving activities let students use knowledge gained in various areas of their academic education. They bring together skills and knowledge from such areas as science, math, art, and English by simulating activities and projects students will encounter later in career and life experiences. A very important feature of most problem-solving activities is that they can be easily modified to fit different educational programs. The goal in implementing these activities is to give students hands-on experience in a practical and realistic scenario. This article describes bridge-building activity which gives students excellent problem-solving experience and a chance to apply academic learning--and an enjoyable challenge. The activity includes a measurable outcome, which is an additional benefit. (ERIC). |
