| Abstract | This article arises from dialogue culled from a yearlong doctoral seminar in which both authors participated. The authors are both African ascendant women who teach and learn in a higher education setting. As one of the professors who co-taught the seminar (Cynthia) and a college administrator who was a doctoral student at the time of the seminar (Chinwe), they are going to draw from wisdom that is grounded in Black feminist thought and in endarkened feminist epistemology. An "endarkened feminist epistemology" articulates how reality is known when based in the historical roots of global Black feminist thought and when understood within the context of reciprocity and relationship. The notion of reciprocity and relationship is echoed in the works of scholars like Johnson-Bailey and Alfred (2006) and Johnson-Bailey (2010) whose position on the use of dialogue for transformational teaching and learning also supports the work the authors have undertaken in this article. They begin by first explaining the context of the discussions from which the dialogue used in this article was selected, and define wisdom as they use it in this article. Next, because understandings of wisdom continue to develop partly through dialogue, they offer their dialogue on emerging wisdom. Finally, they draw some tentative conclusions on what this all means for practice. (ERIC). |
