Abstract | Computer-aided modelling and investigations can bring the real world into classrooms and facilitate its exploration, in contrast to acquiring factual knowledge from textbooks. Computer modelling puts a whole new "spin" on science education, redefining and reshaping the classroom learning experience. The authors used information and communication technology (ICT) to create a Web-based learning environment in which pupils deal with "real-life" situations arising during the journey of solar energy from the Sun to the Earth. In this article, they describe the effects of using ICT modelling and simulations to teach about solar energy. (Contains 5 figures, 1 table and 1 online resource.) (ERIC). |
