Abstract | Many people feel overwhelmed by the seemingly never-ending demands of their professional and personal lives. Thinking of one's life as an ongoing journey promotes flexibility and allows one to focus on a current task, while knowing there will be time in the future to complete other tasks or meet other goals later. Research has also shown that freedom of choice is one of the strongest indicators of happiness. Thus, allowing oneself to consciously "choose" how to spend one's time, in the context of a holistic approach to life, rather than being dictated and constrained by a specific role, may lead to increased happiness and to a more balanced sense of self. In this article, the authors share practical suggestions for holistic time management. (ERIC). |
