Abstract | Defined as "any systemic inquiry conducted by teachers... for the purpose of gathering information about how their particular schools operate, how they teach, and how their students learn" (Mertler, 2009), "action research" is empowering and professional research done by teachers to inform and improves their own practices. Although there are many models of action research, the authors chose to follow the model presented in "The Reflective Educator's Guide to Classroom Research" (Dana and Yendol-Hoppey 2009). In this article they share their experience with action research and their continual professional development (PD) project. (Contains 3 figures and 4 online resources.) (As Provided). |
