Abstract | Electricity and magnetism are intimately linked, this relationship forming the basis of the modern electric utility system and the generation of bulk electrical energy. There is rich literature from which to teach students the basics, but nothing drives the point home like having them learn from firsthand experience--and that is what this challenge is all about. This article presents magnetism and electricity activity that attracts student interest. Using a simple compass, students detect magnetic fields all around them, then draw conclusions based on their findings. (ERIC). |
