Abstract | To educate one's students about recycling garbage, art teachers can plan an "anti-trash costume bash" to promote public awareness of the ugly, unhealthy, and costly effects of litter. Such an event was brainstormed by the Maricopa Association of Governments (MAG), a regional agency made up of the valley communities in Arizona working to promote a better quality of life. MAG serves the metropolitan area, several diverse towns, and Native American communities. For three years now, the Anti-Trash Costume Bash has been held at Arizona State University on Halloween weekend. Proactive environmental groups broadcasted the message to stop abusing the environment and reuse litter. This article offers suggestions for teachers who want to stage their own bash.
