AbstractOne of the author's favorite things about going home is looking at her parents' new quilts. Over the years, each room of their home has become filled with beautiful, original, patchwork quilts, each of which has a history. Recently the author encountered a new artist online, Vadis Turner, whose work is in the style of the familiar tumbling block quilt pattern. In this article, the author shares her success with an art project she started for her students in which students learned the art of quilting. The author uses Vadis Turner's "Fast Food Quilt" with her students as an example for this art project. She feels that this project was a great success, because it combined environmental awareness with problem-solving and visual culture. (Contains 1 online resource.) (ERIC).
