| Abstract | This article describes one attempt to use singing as an instructional strategy to help all students learn across the curriculum. It begins with background on the author's early experiences with singing. Then, it shares professional literature on the relationship between singing, song, and literacy development. Next, it describes singing as an instructional strategy and share samples of students' work that resulted from this engagement. It ends with lessons learned from the whole experience. The aim of the article is to describe an instructional strategy that can help students use reading and writing as tools to learn across the content areas. Teachers can use this strategy in their classrooms to help their students, like the author helped his, engage in meaningful learning experiences across the curriculum. (Contains 1 table.)
