AbstractThere is no question that organization development (OD) scholars and practitioners are confronted with new and increasingly complex challenges in helping their clients cope with a tidal wave of continuous change. The questions they face today focus on the impact of leadership, technology, globalization, and the new generations entering the workforce. There is an even greater challenge they are facing. In this article, the authors not only articulate the more immediate questions human resource development (HRD) and OD scholars and practitioners are living in today and the implications for the practice of OD and HRD, but also challenge them to begin framing the questions that will confront them in the future, to ensure the relevancy of their theories in practice for the years to come. Next, the authors offer issues that need to be addressed now by theory (and practice) as well as future challenges HRD/OD scholars and practitioners will be facing in the not too distant future.
