Abstract | An Australian Research Council (ARC) project that focused on how young people see gender and geography influencing their future life plans raised questions about how Generation Ys engage with, and take up, neoliberal discourse. This paper uses data collected as part of the ARC project to explore these questions. It highlights the power and pervasiveness of neoliberal discourse in these "new times", and the "willingness" of Gen Ys to embrace neoliberalism and its imperative of individualisation.
