Abstract | At 28, Sarah Carter already has an impressive resume--she has worked as a professional cellist, is a pre-med Harvard alumna working at Boston Children's Hospital in the intensive care unit, and is currently applying to medical schools with hopes to enter this fall. But before she does, Sarah has another lofty goal: she is preparing to summit Mt. Kilimanjaro, Africa's tallest peak at 19,340 feet, to raise funds for autism research through her Ascent for Autism. "Exceptional Parent" caught up with this busy young woman as she prepares for the trip. In this interview, Carter describes the details of the summit effort, her inspiration for this event, and what it is like to grow up as the sibling of a child with autism. (ERIC). |
