Abstract | Student organizations enhance college students' experiences and contribute to the vitality of campus life. As staff and faculty, the authors are regularly called on to advise these groups. Good advising can help an organization stay connected with its true mission. One tool that can help advisors navigate and grasp the culture of student organizations is the "culture audit." In this article, the authors share their experiences in conducting a culture audit. The authors explain how to go about studying organizational culture with the culture audit worksheet and discuss implications for practice. While the instrument was developed for organization advisors, it can also be adapted by student affairs professionals and faculty advisors to many different contexts and settings. (ERIC). |
