Abstract | This lead off article to the special volume on evidence-based psychotherapy (EBP) in college and university counseling and mental health centers presents an overview of the topic and outlines the structure of this publication. A focus on EBP research and practice generally, and in institutions of higher education specifically, is provided for depression, anxiety, eating, and alcohol use disorders, as well as a special chapter on training in EBP through college and university-based practicum and internship programs. The special volume ends with a chapter summarizing common concerns and issues identified about the applicability of EBPs to college mental health and presents recommendations for current and future evidence-based practice and research in college counseling center contexts.
