Abstract | A new option that allows students to choose which of their test scores to send to colleges has generated renewed criticism of the College Board. College Board officials tout the option, called Score Choice, as a way to ease test taker anxiety. Some prominent admissions officials have publicly described Score Choice as a sales tactic that will encourage more students to take the SAT multiple times, unfairly benefiting those who can afford test-preparation classes. Others advocate that students should own their scores and assume responsibility for submitting all scores to colleges that require the full complement (the College Board's new policy does not supersede admissions requirements at individual institutions). The debate has evolved into a three-way tug of war among students, colleges, and testing companies. (ERIC). |
