Abstract | Alumni can be visible or invisible, engaged or disengaged. They can speak highly of their college experience--or not. Most colleges find that alumni, regardless of their opinions and experiences, represent a vast, often untapped body of potential support. With a little nurturing, administrators can use relationships with former students and boosters to propel their colleges forward in nearly every area and at high speed. In this article, the author offers various ways in nurturing and building relationships with alumni. One of the ways is to create some sort of Web tool to interact and communicate with former students and stakeholders. An alumni community built around a Web-based portal provides a single location to access information and services in the context of your institution's home page or alumni Web site. (ERIC). |
