Abstract | This article focuses on whether people have the resolve to integrate spiritual development into youth worker preparation. Once an organization is convinced that attentiveness to spiritual development has the potential to enrich and improve youth work practice, equipping youth workers with the necessary skills and capacities can proceed. A model for such preparation begins with youth workers' reflecting on their own spiritual autobiographies. Here, the author discusses one model that comes from a popular course, Young People's Spirituality and Youth Work, which has been taught for four years at the University of Minnesota to graduate and undergraduate youth students. She states that to make youth workers competent practitioners in the domain of spiritual development, they must begin with their own experiences of spirituality and religion. (Contains 7 notes.)
