Abstract | Besides the School Library Media Program of the Year (SLMPY), American Association of School Librarians (AASL) has other awards to honor library media professionals and programs. From the Frances Henne Award for new library media specialists to the Collaborative School Library Media Award for collaborative projects, the awards recognize programs and people from all over the country. In addition to AASL, most state organizations have awards that recognize programs and individuals who are doing outstanding work. All of these awards bring prestige and honor to the school, and give a chance to put the library media program in the limelight. Applying for an award does take time, but the reflective process is amazing, the author asserts, amazing. In the long run they make library media professionals a better one because they have taken time to sit down and really digest what it is they do and how they do it. (ERIC). |
