Abstract | Little research has examined stress among family literacy administrators, although studies in other contexts reveal occupational stress can lead to illness, distress, and organizational problems. This article presents findings from a recent study of stress among family literacy program directors in Texas. Findings reveal family literacy program directors experience moderately high levels of general stress. This study also shows that occupational stress is by far the biggest contributor to directors' general stress levels. Finally, findings reveal that directors most frequently experience boundary-spanning and conflict-mediating stress. (Contains 3 tables and 1 figure.) (Author). |
