Abstract | The Stepfamily Enrichment Program is a multi-couple group intervention intended to help stepfamilies successfully negotiate the early stages of family formation. Theory, research, and clinical findings were integrated in this intervention designed specifically for remarried couples. Emphasis is placed on strengthening and improving family relationships; in particular, the marital, the stepparent-stepchild, and the custodial-noncustodial parent relationships. A preliminary evaluation of the intervention, using comments from written evaluation forms and focus groups, revealed that positive changes in family relationships occurred. A description of the intervention and guidelines for program delivery are provided. (Author). |
