Abstract | With new programs, new facilities and new training options, a number of technical schools and community colleges are experiencing a tremendous growth spurt. The latest survey conducted by the U.S. Department of Education's National Center for Education Statistics indicates an interesting trend in public two-year college enrollments. Findings indicate that growth in technical school and community college enrollment is declining in large institutions located in large population centers, growing in smaller institutions in all areas, and growing in large institutions in smaller population areas. This article provides a brief description of four of the fastest-growing community colleges and career-technical schools (Southwest Wisconsin Technical College, Bishop State Community College, Oklahoma City Community College, and El Paso Community College).
