Abstract | This study compares interview responses of 30 elementary school teachers from Canada with those of 30 teachers from China regarding their concerns related to the inclusion of students with special needs in the classroom. Interviews revealed similarities and differences between the groups in the teachers? concerns about the integration of students with special needs. Shared concerns included both the lack of adequate training required for teaching students with special needs and the increased workload. Major differences regarded the concern about teachers? attitudes toward inclusion, with the Chinese teachers demonstrating a more optimistic attitude. Recommendations for practice and future research are outlined. (Author). |
