Abstract | Examined the effects of gender on the self-assessment of accuracy of visual perceptual judgments. College students completed a test of general knowledge and a visual perceptual task. When results were analyzed by sex, men were more confident than women. Next, people age 17-80 completed tests of cognitive ability. The tendency for men to express higher confidence levels than women remained constant across the lifespan. (SM) |
