Abstract | Examined the school competence of internationally adopted children from Colombia and Korea and a matched sample of Norwegian-born children. Found that adopted children had lower school performance than Norwegian-born children. Most of the disparity was explained by adopted children's language skills and high frequency of hyperactive behavior. Although country of origin contributed significantly, the children's age of adoption did not explain much of the variance in school competence. (Author/KB) |
