Abstract | Examines the underrepresentation of European women in science, engineering, and technology, discussing the European Technology Assessment Network (ETAN)report on promoting excellence through mainstreaming gender equality. Women leave scientific careers in disproportionate numbers. Gender equality can be developed through equal treatment, positive action, and gender mainstreaming. Application of these approaches by universities and research institutes may improve women's position in science. Contains figures, references and a list of ETAN members.(SM) |
