Abstract | Examines why the number of high-poverty neighborhoods in U.S. cities has increased since 1970 by using geocoded data from the Panel Study of Income Dynamics. Suggests that migration of the non-poor from the poor played a key role in forming new poor urban neighborhoods during the 1970s and 1980s. (CMK) |
