Abstract | Examines the relative emphasis placed on different student competencies by 248 faculty members in disparate theory-based clusters of academic departments. Findings suggest that faculty create distinctive academic environments inclined to require, reinforce, and reward their preferred patterns of student abilities and interests in a manner consistent with Holland's theory.
