Abstract | The handbooks and additional periodical literature produced by the Girl Scouts of America provide important clues as to the kind of advice the organization's founder imparted to young girls and the types of activities promoted. These materials lend insight into the evolving definition of gender roles through instruction given to young girls. (AEF) |
