Abstract | The Eastman School of Music (New York), part of the University of Rochester, is departing from tradition by introducing contemporary music and audience awareness training into the curriculum in an effort to help students build performance careers. Eastman is one of the few music schools responding to market issues so vigorously. Some success stories illustrate the utility of the changes. (MSE) |
