Abstract | Discusses the formation of cultural identity and the development of panethnic consciousness among post-1965 Filipino Americans. It argues that this formation is situated within the context of Asian American history and the colonial history and diaspora experiences of Filipinos. It warns against Asian American cultural and political agendas which may erase differences or could possibly tokenize and patronize its less dominant members. (GR) |
