Abstract | Outlines the liberalized criteria for worker eligibility for assistance under the Trade Act of 1974, which provides more rapid delivery of adjustment benefits to workers displaced due to increased import goods. This program applies particularly to middle aged and older workers who are more likely to be laid off by the affected industries with a high proportion of workers over age 50 of low skill levels who tend to have considerable difficulty in finding reemployment.
