Abstract | In the spring of 2020, the US Department of Education updated Title IX guidelines addressing the way campuses investigate gender-based violence. This paper explores how then Vice President of Student Affairs at Phoenix College handled changes to Title IX compliance in the early months of the Coronavirus pandemic while also transitioning to remote campus operations. The author also explored Phoenix College's continued commitment to equity and inclusion, no matter the physical or virtual environment. Implications for further study should address the core differences between the roles and responsibilities of Title IX coordinators at two-year and four-year institutions, their legal and professional backgrounds, as well as research on how the need to pivot to online and remote environments may impact reporting, investigations, and perceptions of equity and inclusion at community colleges.
