| Abstract | Indigenous games and sports (IG&S) form a mandated part of the Health and Physical Education (HPE) learning area of the Australian National Curriculum and to encourage the adoption of IG&S, the Australian Curriculum, Assessment, and Reporting Authority (ACARA), the independent statutory authority responsible for the development of a national curriculum, a national assessment program, and a national data collection and reporting program that supports learning for Australian students, developed resources to support teachers. The promotion of IG&S was also assisted by numerous commentators, educators, and academics who advocated for the educational and social benefits of their inclusion. Since their inclusion in the National Curriculum in 2015, their teaching has been minimal and sporadic. (As Provided). |
