AbstractTeaching students how to be respectful and aware of cultural and transcultural differences is often overwhelming for students and teachers. Students need to be understanding of different cultures and transculture because all humans will interact with others whose cultures differ from theirs. Understanding transculture and cultural differences and issues is important for better understanding of others. Allowing students time to write a currere is a way for students to think about their experiences related to culture, while also reflecting on the knowledge and understanding that they currently have on a culture. This is a personal way for students to think about their knowledge, while also thinking ahead to what they would like to understand about culture. Once students have had time to personally reflect in a currere, providing class time for students to converse is a great way to question, teach, discuss, and share experiences about culture.
