AbstractWeb-based student response systems (SRSs) is one of the web 2.0 tools that have recently started to be used frequently by researchers and educators, with the widespread use of smartphones among students. This study aims to present a systematic review of the literature on SRS used in educational settings. With this study, teachers and researchers who are users of these technologies can form a general idea about their usability in the education process. Learner types and size, disciplines, implementation period, tools, learning/teaching strategies, variables, and the advantages and challenges of using SRSs in the included articles were investigated. ERIC, Scopus, and Web of Science were surveyed, and a total of 77 research articles were selected for the systematic review. The findings revealed that SRSs was mostly used in undergraduate and in the field of medicine. In the articles that examine SRSs, it was determined that there were generally long-term implementation periods and that the tools Kahoot! and Socrative were preferred the most frequently. The most-reported advantages of SRSs are related to pedagogical contributions. Although a large number of its advantages are reported, it has some technical and pedagogical difficulties. The features of SRSs examined within the scope of the study were discussed in detail in line with the findings obtained, and recommendations were made. (As Provided).
