Abstract | Most approaches to vocational exploration present challenges to people who have more than one central cultural identity. In this article, we begin with a framework for understanding hybrid cultural identity focused on the real-life experiences of hybrid people. We then identify three predominant approaches to vocation as well as the challenges that each presents to culturally hybrid people. We conclude by proposing four fruitful starting points for shaping an approach to vocation from the perspective of cultural hybridity, rooted in inter-referencing other hybrid perspectives as well as in the contexts from which those perspectives arise.
