AbstractGraduate students of color (GSOC) face unique challenges on many college campuses. The purpose of the present study was to examine the experiences of GSOC at a predominately White institution (PWI). We used participatory action research in the form of photovoice in order to present the truths of 22 GSOC. We utilized a series of photos and associated narratives in order to highlight their obstacles, needs, supports, and ability to thrive. Several themes were identified among these participants, including: (1) the negative impact of campus racial climate which led to feelings of isolation; (2) a need for a sense of belonging; (3) the importance of financial support such as assistantships; and (4) and the identification of self-care practices such as being in nature and spending time with peers. Through this present study's findings, we recommend universities critically examine their policies and practices that negatively impact the experiences of GSOC. (As Provided).
