AbstractThe purpose of this study is to identify the effect of a tailored domain-specific intervention using contextual information about sedentary behavior to reduce sedentary time. A total of 40 participants (i.e., general adults) were randomly assigned to three groups (i.e., tailored domain-specific intervention, standard intervention and control). Behavioral strategies included educational meeting and materials, goal setting and feedback, and self-monitoring for the two intervention groups. Additionally, the contextual information was given to the tailored domain-specific intervention group. Sedentary time was measured by accelerometers at baseline, first and second intervention week, and contextual information about their sedentary behavior was obtained from the Sedentary Behavior Record instrument. A Bayesian repeated measures ANOVA was conducted. Thirty-six participants were included in this study. There was an evidence of interaction effect between group and time (BF[subscript 10] = 8.17). In the tailored domain-specific intervention group, sedentary time at the first intervention week (BF[subscript 10] = 19.09) and at the second intervention week (BF[subscript 10] = 86.39) was less than the sedentary time at baseline. The tailored domain-specific intervention using contextual information was effective, reducing sedentary time. (As Provided).
