Abstract | Military members endure a variety of stressors (e.g., transitioning from military culture to college culture), which may be associated with mental health distress. College counselors must be aware of the unique clinical needs of student Veterans. College counselors can increase military cultural competence and adopt effective clinical approaches to better serve the unique mental health needs of student Veterans. This article provides a review of the common transitional stressors and mental health concerns experienced by student Veterans. Additionally, considerations for college counselors (developing military cultural competence, using effective clinical approaches) to serve student Veteran clients are discussed. (As Provided). |
