AbstractThe purpose of this study was to examine the institutional conditions and educational practices associated with students' college-related career outcome expectations. Through the use of hierarchical linear modeling, we analyzed data from 6,193 students and explored the college-related career outcome expectations among heterosexual and LGBQ collegians. Findings highlighted the importance of support from academic departments, faculty/staff, and campus environments to improve college-related career outcome expectations for all students. Moreover, results revealed that students who identified as gay or lesbian exhibited more positive college-related career outcome expectations than their peers, but that self-reported perceptions of academic confidence negatively affected these expectations for bisexual, gay, and lesbian students. Implications for professionals working to improve career outcomes of collegians, especially for LGBQ students, are discussed. (As Provided).
