Abstract | Sweden which has been long considered a champion of human rights, immigration-based multiculturalism has received domestic criticism. The resulting strong consensus supports multiculturalism that is "understood as active efforts to make public institutions more inclusive and hospitable to ethnic and religious diversity." This article focuses on Sweden's inclusive hospitality as manifested in the public institution of school. One school at the socio-economic margins serves as an example, benefiting from the commitment of its leaders to the ideals of multicultural inclusivity. This inclusion of different perspectives illustrates the degree that democratic values and consensus are valued in Sweden, and it is this aspect of Swedish society and culture that may be the most important value the school can pass on to its largely immigrant population of students and parents.
