Abstract | For so many minoritized and vulnerable students on campus, the COVID-19 pandemic did not introduce chaos in their life; it only exacerbated hardships and their already tenuous relationship with higher education. For a student already on the perilous edge of stopping out, any seemingly insignificant change can mean the end of your college career. Now, these same students are living through a national crisis. Higher education professionals are well positioned to serve as a lifeline during this crisis, a lifeline that can make a difference for a student. This article offers five strategies for student affairs professionals that manifested from the author's experiences as a student, educator, advocate, and leader. While her experiences are specific, she believes the strategies have potential to transcend multiple contexts including the distinctions of functions, institutions, and regions. (ERIC). |
