Abstract | The amplification of women's voices and enfranchisement of their rights is a global issue that has gained momentum in the last century alongside the expansion of democracy. Women have seen their political presence increase in recent history, whether it be through suffrage and voting rights, parity of representation in governmental bodies, or first-timers elected to public office. Many of the newer and mostly democratic nations founded in the last 100 years included voting rights for women from their inception, codifying these rights in their constitutions as inalienable. By examining photographs of women participating in elections around the world, students can make important connections to the Nineteenth Amendment and prompt a fascinating comparative study of women's voting rights worldwide.
